• Four five-star resorts and commercial areas are going in on the East Cape
• In addition, road building and paving is underway in the East Cape area of Baja California Sur
Mexico is to chair the Group of 20 (G20) leading economies in 2012, and the G20 Summit, comprised of the leaders and finance ministers of 20 countries, is expected to be in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, where it will bring 16,000 visitors, including President Barack Obama. Member countries represent about 90% of global gross national product, 80% of world trade, and two–thirds of the world's population.
The broad economic base and large membership of the G20 make it very influential on the management of the global economy. The choice of Los Cabos (San Jose del Cabo/Cabo San Lucas) as the 2012 site exemplifies the safety and security that we enjoy here in Los Cabos.
For the summit, President Felipe Calderon of Mexico signed a check for Los Cabos in the amount of $180 million, for a new convention center in San Jose del Cabo, and the building of the second four lane highway from San Jose to Cabo San Lucas.
Baja California Sur highway infrastructure development
Additional exciting news for the East Cape area is the cutting in and paving of the first stage of the planned south to east main road, and arteries dropping down to beach road developments.
The photo below, taken on July 1, shows the new paved road going in near Los Zacatitos where it connects to the existing beach road. These paved roads are the first step towards the creation of four five-star resorts and commercial areas going in on the East Cape, from Puerto Los Cabos marina to the Los Frailes/Cabo Pulmo area, connecting with the existing paved road south of La Ribera. The national and international developers of these resorts are funding the new road.
