The Los Cabos tourist sector operates under normality, SECTUR

All tourist services and activities in Los Cabos operate under normality and where

not interrupted at any moment, stated the Secretary of the state Department of

Tourism, Rubén Reachi Lugo, who confirmed that the events taken place last

Saturday in Cabo San Lucas had no impact what so ever on visitors.

"The Department of Tourism of Baja California Sur ratifies that Los Cabos is a safe

destination for all tourists and we acknowledege our public safety authorities in all

levels of government for the promt response to contain the situation that erupted.",

he stated.

He also stated that immediate communication was established with our service

providers with the objective of keeping them informed of the facts and especially to

convey the message that there is no need for alarm in the tourist sector.

"It is important to emphasize that no tourist was injured or involved and that

through out all services operated with out interruption in the tourist zone which is in

normal conditions and free of any violence."

Services that catter to tourists such as hotels, restaurants, family enterntainment

centers, business, beaches, bars and night clubs, operated with normality over the

weekend; as well as the Los Cabos International Airport and the Cabo San Lucas

Airport, reported no delays of arrivals and departures.

Secretary Reachi made clear that tourists can travel freely through our highways

with out any restrictions to motor vehicles, which confirms the order and safety of

our tourist operations in this city.

Rubén Reachi Lugo, commented that these engagements are in response to the

intelligence investigations carried out by the task force of the department of Public

Safety from the state of Baja California Sur, with the objective of preventing crime,

maintaining and guaranteeing our state of Baja California Sur as one of the safest in

Mexico.

In sum, the Secretary of Tourism stated that his department will maintain permanent

vigilance over the extent of the information generated both nationaly and

internationaly due to the nature of the events, in order to guarantee precise

information of the facts with embassies, tour operators, tourist promoters and

media.
